Steady State Economics - Just Curious

In all the mainstream articles about the economy, the rescue plans, spurring "growth," creating jobs, infrastructure spending v. tax cuts, etc., I haven't seen any discussion of steady state economics, which seems odd, since so much of what's happening can be linked to inhabitants of "wealthy" countries living beyond our ecological means.

If others have seen such discussion, please link to it.

I don't have much to say about this - a few months ago I wandered over to the website of the Center for the Advancement of Steady State Economics

and my eyes glazed over in the first few paragraphs of trying to understand how it could work, if policy-makers attempted to implement it. Will try to get a copy of Herman Daly's work on the subject to learn more.

Maybe there will be a shift in mainstream thinking spurred by these small bubbles of alternatives, but it seems unlikely. Maybe the parts of the Obama plan related to green energy investment are meant as a kind of bridge to such a sustainable economy later...
