This "War" was concieved by visionless, incompetent leaders in the Bush Administration and Republican Party. Its premise was to ignore the fact that Bush had been warned about such an attack and did nothing to stop it. As proof of it's success, we were told that we had not been attacked again. Well, we should have not been attacked in the first place if our leaders would have done their jobs.
The new Sheriff in town let it be known that he sees things a different way:
During his campaign and again in his inaugural address Tuesday, Obama used a different lexicon to describe operations to defeat terrorists. "As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals," he said. ". . . And for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."

So while we must remain vigilant against the dangers posed by the world, and people that use hatred to further their aims, thank God that America can no longer be counted among that group. This last election was a complete rebuke of the neo-con view of the world that had long sought to capitalize on the "Pearl Harbor type event" they had so lusted for.
To me, this is the greatest achievement of the last election. No longer are those of us who point out that an incompetent President caused 9-11 regarded as traitors. No longer are we told that the greatest country in the world should be full of cowards who are afraid of their own shadows and should give up rights to beg a king-like leader to make us safe. Terrorism exists, as it always will but now we can see this "War on Terror" as what it was, a propoganda ploy that was embarked upon to silence those of us who do not believe we should shred our Constitution for a false sense of security under an incompetent leader.
Thank you President Obama for ending this farce and re-enacting the ideals that made us America. Now, lets embark on a real, and sane policy that not only keeps us safe, but fights terrorism at its roots. The ending of this "War" was a victory not only for the United States, but for all those in the world who look up to the ideals she stands for.
