Please note that this is certainly not the only running fitness or nutrition diary on site, only the newest. Be sure to check out Macca's Meatless Mondays, Saturday Morning Garden Blogging, Fitness Monday, What's for Dinner?, and Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies (h/t to plf515) among other fine diary series.
Now even though it's only been a couple of days since the exploratory diary, I'm going to update on my numbers and goals, and from here on make it just a Saturday thing. MY stated goal is to get from my January 1rst weight of 286.4 down to 185 by year's end, unless I put on significant muscle mass while weight training, in which case 200 is acceptable.
This morning I'm at 283.4, but I'm afraid losing 3 pounds isn't any miracle of exercise and dieting over the last couple of days, unless you count the 'minor food poisoning diet'. As a result of having a week of houseguests who coooked too much for every meal, we're trying to work through leftovers without wasting too much, but it looks like they might have put some cold cuts back in the fridge that were left out for hours, and my ham on rye for dinner yesterday was actually a ham and bacteria on rye.
I've been doing some stretching each day and a little walking, but I've been boxing up piles of books that had taken over my weight bench, and I'm going to start with some easy weight training exercises today broken into a couple of short sessions this morning and evening to kick my metabolism up a bit. Bench presses, squats, inclined pushups and the like. I'll be more specific next week ;)
Next to dust off is the stationary bike, as it's a bit chilly out for the walks, so they've been shorter than they should, and I think the bike will have to replace them for the next few months.
As for 'dieting', I haven't gotten specific yet, just been careful not to do my general 'grazing' and keep my eating limited to mealtimes with a nice large drink of tea or water, and tea any time I start to get the urge to graze.
So how are you doing? For those of you who were here on the 1rst, have you made any more concrete plans or set goals? Do we have a DKos team on Sparkpeople now, if folks want to sign up for that?
