ConnecticutMan1 emailed me an unlikely and highly entertaining article posted by Warranted Wiretaps. They have obtained an exclusive mp3 file of a conference call put together by "the national liberty movement" to improve the quality of right wing blogs.
Unfortunately for them, their call was crashed by a group of twittering humorists.
According to Warranted Wiretaps, Michael Johns, an architect of Bush's "Medicare Reform" Giveaway to private insurance and pharmaceutical companies and an early proponent of the Reagan Doctrine, helped to organize the conference call. The call was meant to attract participants to a new ultra-rightwing website, 73wire.com.
Unfortunately for Johns and the Liberty Movement, Twitterer @Strwbrry_Blonde learned of the call and asked Twitter organizer @Shoq to help disseminate call-in information through Twitter.
In the end, several liberal or satirical Twitter users, including Comedy Central's Elon James White (@ElonJames), Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead (@LizzWinstead) and a few dozen other tea-party-crashers participated in the call, livetweeting comments among themselves under the Twitter hashtag #teapartycall.
After admitting that "right of center blogs" are mostly "mediocre" and that the right has lost control of the news cycle, call organizers requested call participants to create blogs through 73wire.com, where they will be rewarded for their right-leaning comments. Call hosts claimed other blogs are censoring conservatives.
They then opened up the call for questions. Shortly thereafter, satirists from Twitter including Winstead (who called herself "Marge from Minnesota") began asking stupid questions while genuine TeaPartiers shouted over one another about Obama's "dithering on terrorism," disrupting their own organizing session. Organizers were forced to mute the phones of all the participants.
