Jobs and Afghanistan are more important than health care

'YOU'RE SCREWED' Rep. Michael Capuano tells fellow dems.

People are talking about what will happen in 2010 if health care doesn't pass. The answer is simple, nothing different than if health care does pass.

If unemployment is not down below 7% democrats will lose big time. Okay I picked a number out of the air but as Bill Clinton said It's the Economy, Stupid! If the American people keep hearing about huge incomes going to bankers while they have shrinking or non existent incomes, guess who loses big time.

As to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, we keep hearing of more bodies being sent home and for what? In Iran Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds still have major issues with each other and bombs going off in Baghdad regularly. In Afghanistan we are supporting a corrupt government that is profiting from the sale of drugs. And then there is Blackwater (whatever they call themselves) and other contractors fucking up big time. Finally there is Pakistan who is more interested in fighting India than the Taliban.

The Taliban are not going to leave Pakistan, they want Pakistan's nukes and factions of Pakistan's ISI support the Taliban.

So we got a mess. The leveling of unemployment may or may not hold. I predict in a short time manufacturers will realize without more employment retail sales will fall and profits in non luxury items will fall. They will layoff or fire more workers and unemployment will continue to rise.

Republicans will blame democrats, though the fault lies in the stimulus package not being large enough or focused enough on creating jobs. They will bame democrats and deficit spending without enough tax cuts.
