The time to call is now

This morning I called the offices of my two Senators (Mikulski and Cardin) and my Representative (Van Hollen). I told the staff member my name, my address and that I voted for them the last time they ran for office. I made clear I was a constituent of theirs.

Then I let them know my views on the health care bill as last modified to gain Senator Lieberman's vote for cloture. I let them know that I felt this was a terrible bill that with the mandates would bankrupt middle class Americans without providing the health care needed. I let them know I would be watching how they voted and make decisions whether to support them or not in future elections based on their votes. I let them know that health care should go to reconciliation where I would support single payer and/or a strong public option.

Regardless of your views you should do the same.

Call your legislators and give their staff your opinions. Let the staff member know yor are a constituent and that you vote. Let them know this is an important issue to you.

I say call because calling is more effective than e-mail. I say call because we need to keep the legislators know this is a VERY important issue to us. Yes follow up with e-mail, but keep the e-mail unique to yourself. Better yet follow up with good ole US postal mail, signed, sealed and delivered.

As the bill changes repeat.
