Palin's spokesperson wouldn't say exactly how much was owed.
But, according to a Huff Post spot from September 15th 2008, Palin may own back taxes on more than $60,000 of taxable income:
When news broke last week that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin received more than $17,000 in state-issued per diems for evenings spent in her own home, several tax experts and watchdogs asked whether John McCain's running mate had ever declared and paid taxes on that money as income. Including travel reimbursements for Palin's family members, the Washington Post reported that the total amount of potentially taxable income totals over $60,000 for Palin's first 18 months as governor.
Palin, who touted her fiscal responsibility often while on the campaign trail in the 2008 elections, had no comment regarding the state officials findings.
Today's Washington Post however has the best summation of the continuing media circus surrounding Palin in today's edition:
Nearly every move that Palin makes or does not make, acknowledges Joe Balash, one of her closest aides, is analyzed through a new political prism, scrutinized for its effect on a possible 2012 presidential candidacy. "There's nothing we can do to stop it," he said. "People wonder why she's doing something or not doing something."
I know what I want for Christmas 2011: A Palin 2012 Presidential candidacy! You betcha!!!
