GOP opening up to Gay marriage?

"There is a sound conservative argument to be made for same-sex marriage," Schmidt, who was McCain's campaign manager, told the group. "I believe conservatives, more than liberals, insist that rights come with responsibilities. No other exercise of one's liberty comes with greater responsibilities than marriage. In a marriage, two people are completely responsible to and for each other."

Ya know, finally. A realistic and conservative message about marriage that makes sense. It is at the very least internally logically consistent with calls for individual liberty, personal responsibility, and smaller government.

I begin to wonder if maybe if this continues on the GOP as they try to find their way if they will come around more and we can stop ahving such a divided and partisan nation and start seeing each other as citizens and not political parties.
