But now it seems as if Cheney is anything but retired and that he still clings to his failed ideology. After the total failures in Homeland Security and Foreign policy spearheaded by him, Cheney still seems to think he is some kind of expert.
Once again, he is going public with hollow arguments for a proven failed policy:
Cheney kept up his attacks Tuesday, hitting the Obama administration for considering prosecuting Bush administration attorneys who provided the legal backing for CIA interrogations at the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and at other detention centers around the world.
"It’s one thing to change the policy, it’s an entirely different thing to say you are going to go after the lawyers of the past administration," Cheney said. "It’s outrageous."
"I don’t think we should just roll over when the new administration accuses us of using torture," he added. "I don’t believe it was torture."

All I have to say is that if a crime was committed it should be prosecuted just like it would against any other citizen. America is not a country that utilizes torture and never should be. Such things run against every enlightened ideal our country was founded upon. If Dick Cheney says waterboarding and other such methods are not torture, would he submit himself to such a procedure by a middle-eastern soldier??
The he goes right back to the same tired argument that every right-wing loon uses to justify every action taken by the Bush Administration in the years after 9-11:
"Bottom line is we successfully defended the nation for seven-and-a-half years against a follow-on attack to 9/11," he said. "That was a remarkable achievement. Nobody would have thought that was possible, but it was. I believe it was possible because of the policies we had in place, which they're now dismantling."
The real bottome line is that the policies that are being dismantled were not needed in the first place. Cheney and the Republicans conviently forget that they had clear and present warning about the attacks in their hands. Simple competence by a leadership that failed could have prevented the attack without any of the new policies that the Bush Administration put in place to combat "Islamo-facism". The truth is the intelligence policies and community that Bush and Cheney inherited performed just fine in 2001. The Administration failed.
Now Cheney seems set to groom another stooge, yet another Bush with the same misled world view, failed ideology, and corporate mindset. Is Cheney reaching out to Jeb??:
Former Vice President Dick Cheney said on Tuesday he would back former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush if he decided to run for president.
"I like Jeb. I think he's a good man. I'd like to see him continue to stay involved politically," Cheney said during an interview with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto. "I'd probably support him for president."
Cheney insisted that he’s "not in the business of endorsing anybody at this point," but said that he’s "a big fan of Jeb's."
I mean, why not?? These two go way back. They were both members of the neo-con(facist) group PNAC. Remember this was the group that lusted for a Pearl Harbor Event so that they could enact the very policies that failed this country so miserably and squandered over a trillion dollars and countless thousands of lives.
Lets hope the American people as a whole have gotten the hint about the Bush family and men and women like Dick Cheney. While they are living high on the hog, average Americans and future generations are paying the price for the failed policies that wreaked destruction on every facet of the American experience.
