See, back in the dark ages when I was young, there were these vinyl things kinda like CDs but which you played by the bizarre method of spinning them around on a "turntable" and putting a needle on them. Barbaric I know. But they were real. No, seriously, Google says so!
But I had a few that were Halloween "sound effect" recordings. And what hit me about a third of the way into the ghastly sounds of suffering souls was I could have made that recording myself. It seriously sounded like several of the ever so spooky sounds from those old 45s clumsily overlaid and repeated in blazingly (heh) obvious manner.
So yesterday, I was over at liberality's diary which offers Redstate tips on how to "stop the gloating" and decided to pop over to Redstate (something I rarely do) and see what was going on.
After reading the rather calm Erick Erickson (apparently of the rapidly shrinking "not batshit crazy" demographic of the reich right), I almost immediately found myself being told to Drop dead...
Beyond that, just shut up. Shut your lying, hypocritical, power-above-patriotism, hyper-partisan, two-faced, shamelessly double-standard bearing pie hole.
You don’t get to judge.
Whoa, dude! One word: Xanax.
But here's the kicker:
You, to put it mildly, do not police your own.
We do. We’ll deal with Sanford. We have standards (you don’t), and we have a long history of punishing and purging our leaders who prove unworthy of trust. For your part, serial adulterer Bill Clinton remains a rock star as far as you are concerned, and that about sums up the standards to which Democrats hold themselves.
Tangentially, I always find it interesting that the reich right has the curious habit of simply assuming everybody shares their values. See, it's hypocritical to not judge Bill for getting the First Willy wet because we, of course, see the world in their black v. white, babble based "morality". Whether consciously or not (and I've seen what I believe to be both cases, including weird shades between), they try to frame every dispute as if their values are the norm, the universals. This is quite often seen in the rabid rantings of the allegedly Christian when they go after us evil atheists. See, we really believe, we just don't want to admit it!
But to my point. The giggling started as I scrolled down from the above shrieking to find...

Um... well. And, just so we're clear:
We have standards (you don’t), and we have a long history of punishing and purging our leaders who prove unworthy of trust.
It seems "punishing and purging" means "posting on Redstate". Granted, that would be punishment to me and I certainly would, erm, purge but I did not realize they viewed their own site with such disdain.
So here we go with the same old shrieking, badly overlaid, endlessly repeated, and, boy, have I ever heard this one before...
(Update: minor changes in some clumsily over overlaid sentences)
