My Amazing Day

I'm sure that there are a few of you out there that know that I've been struggling to get my Mother on disability for 2 years now. During this time, she's been hospitalized several times with minor heart attacks, pneumonia, and various other ailments. All while being diabetic and incontinent. And through all of this, NO HEALTH INSURANCE!

You can imagine the out of pocket costs for prescription, diabetic strips and other OTC medications as well as doctor visits. ($863.00 just this week). It had gotten to the point that our house is now in foreclosure. Well, in the mail last night finally came the document from Social Security we had been hoping for. She has been Approved!!

She will be getting back payments from April 2007. You have no idea how much of a burden that has been lifted off of us. We are also in the process of having the mortgage remodified so we can stay in this house that my Grandparents bought in the early 70s.

And here's the really freaky part. I had Chinese for lunch today, and I swear on whatever deity you worship, this was my fortune in my fortune cookie!

And this is the cherry on the Sundae. You know I've been diligently diarying the progress of my half feral stray kitten Sir Snarklepants. Well this afternoon he actually ate food off of my hand! Once his eyes glanced up to see where it was coming from, he ran, but it's real progress.
