Remember how the world responded with an outpouring of condolences and sympathy for America? Remember how world leaders said, "Today we are all Americans"? Remember all of that?
America's response to the bombing in Madrid makes us look like a bunch of ungreatful bastards. Why? Because there has been so little response.
Where is the support for our Spanish allies? Hardly to be found. Our own government came out in support of a fallacious scapegoating of responsibility, regarding those bombings, endorsing the former ruling party's attempt to capitalize on the attacks as a means of garnering votes. That attempt has backfired, and now we've lost another ally.
And if past events have been any indication, the major response from the powers-that-be, and their mouthpieces, will be to paint the Spanish as cowards.
When did America lose its compassion? Seemingly when we elected a "compassionate" president.
