I am saddened by this. When a life is lost, it sucks. I really don't care the reason. Death sucks. How do you want to die? I've thought alot about this, and can only come up with a list of how I DON'T want to die.
I don't want some government "death panel" or an insurance company denial to cause my death. I don't want to hang myself, or to be hung. If we could "choose" our own death, wouldn't we choose the least painful, most serene, least hurtful to those around us? Does that option exist?
I fear for our collective future, we are killing ourselves and each other at far to quick a pace for my liking. Why? What do any of us have to gain at the cost of any life? I'm pro-choice, but I completely see the other side of the coin. I'm adopted and sometimes I wish I was a bloody spot on some Dr.'s floor. That's not to say I want to kill myself now. I'm just saying that, sometimes, I wish I was not born to begin with. Call it frustration. But I digress.
Sometimes we dwell too much on what's wrong, that we are blind to what's beautiful and right and fun in life. Why? We're human and we're stoopid. Our knees jerk at every perceived wrong done to us. We are all petulant children, no different from our foes, we all think we are right.
The problem is, none of us, are correct. We are all wrong. Not one of us is without fault, or completely innocent. First stone and all.
Where is the "middle road"? Does it even exist? Is the only thing that any of us can see a crossroads, where you must choose a direction? Is there no choice but left, right, or status quo? What about an intersection called "five points", where there's more of a choice. You've seen it in your life, that option that allows you to choose the "all of the above" answer.
An American citizen is dead, it doesn't matter how he died or how he was found, we should all grieve, how do you want to die?
