Q: What are your feelings about the Confederate Flag flying on state grounds?
Chad: The issue of the Confederate flag on statehouse grounds was the subject of terribly contentious debate. The state legislature came to what they thought was a reasonable compromise. This is purely a state issue and so I think it would be wrong for the US Senate to intervene in something like this. I understand the arguments on both sides and frankly haven't spent much time thinking about my personal views on the flag.
My biggest concern are those that deal the federal issues. I'm not trying to dodge the question, just haven't had a chance to think about it much.
Q: How can we make sure the remaining stimulus coming to our state will go to creating jobs in SC?!
Chad: Here's what we do. To the extent federal money is not tied up by federal law, we use the remaining stimulus for the following: 1) put every laid off teacher in this state back into the classroom. 2) send it to the cities and counties to put every laid off police officer and firefighter back on the job. 3) to the extent there is unfunded state procurements, buy what the state needs so long as they are bought from SC companies and to the fullest extent possible made in SC first and made in USA second. That's a start.
Q: Many were very upset over Graham's statement on SC having 30% African Americans regarding unemployment. Both Graham and Demint shame our state with their outdated ideology! SC Dems need to fight back this year!
Chad: We can always do better.
It is time for Democrats to stop letting others claim they are have a monopoly on values. It just isn't so. The cavalcade of problems includes those on both sides of the aisle. Democrats need to never, ever let these attacks pass.
The basic question is simple-- who does that person think they work for? The people that elected them or themselves? We can't agree on everything-- none of us can-- but we have to be convinced that the person in office has the best interests of their folks at heart. If they don't believe it-- fire that politician and get a new one.
Simple as that.
