At this point and time in Georgia, I am thoroughly ashamed to say that I am from here. I know the hypocrisy and feel the hate. Why move? First of all who can afford it? Second of all, if we free thinking progressives don't get motivated, little ole Ga will be part of the majority and not the ignorant minority.
This is reality folks. I had a diary on here warning young
people not to be apathetic about this election. Some of you young folks have no clue about Jim Crow era and the fight for equality and feminism. The DADT will just be a dream and the old saying I have heard all my life, The south will rise again, will become a reality.
We have Perry wanting to secede but if the GOP become the majority, it won't be them that will want to secede.
They will take us back to the darkest days of American history. You cannot reason with ignorance and you cannot educate what Pappy taught you to be the gospel.
The only thing people can do is not let the Tea Party crowd get the majority in legislating what goes in your bedroom, what wars they decide need fighting and to impose their beliefs on other countries. You don't need to have the arrogance of, after waiting all these years after the civil war, the flag of the south to be as respected as the Don't tread on me, that they proudly display. I saw Roy Barnes (former governor of Ga) flat get run out of his governorship over a flag. I see people everyday displaying the Confederate emblem everywhere. Dick Armey and his good ole boy attitude started this thing with Freedom Works. The man has probably never worked a day in his life and what would he know about a fair wage or a cotton mill worker who breathes the lint and known in the south as a Lint head from the so called good folks who are supposed to be Christian and caring? 10 cent millionaires.
That is what the south is. People who enjoy their ignorance and really buy into the bull crap of the wealthy and vote against their own interests.
There are a few folks in the south (the deep south) like me but so many of the dems are Zell Millers. Deep down they are dixiecrats.
The south was Democrat for so long because the dems were Dixiecrats and at least now the majority are in the GOP and we know the difference. Folks like John Lewis is a credit and honor to us. People like Saxby is a disgrace but if you sat on my front porch and saw the view from here you would run like crazy to the nearest voting booth and pull that lever for a D. Even a blue dog D is better than a conservative R and forget moderate, that went out the door with the tea party movement.
Pretty soon, we won't have to say, "Ya'll come back now ya heah" because the entire USA with maybe the exception of NY and California will be engulfed in the Rise of the Right which is dead wrong. They were wrong in the 1860's and they were wrong in the 1960's.
Vote. Just forget any disappointments that you have had in the administration until we lay the hammer down on our expectations after this election. Yes, I have disappointments, but tell me where was all this winter or fall of discontent when GWB was setting this whole thing up. There was none. Notice militia movements are only on the rise when a dem is in power? Vote to keep ignorance out. Just do it. I cannot tell you how ugly your state will become to look like the deep red south of the 60's and if that tea party crowd goes in, then that is what you will get. I do not want flack from some well meaning southern folks as I am as southern as they come but the truth is the truth. Did you not see Deliverance? How about Southern Comfort? Mississippi Burning? Ghosts of Mississippi. It is true. Please help we free thinking southerns who want a respectable and intelligent state to not spread it's hate and cancer. The answer...Vote to keep them out.
