Welcome to your new majority! Via Juan Cole, we get a glimpse of the kind of thinking that will be guiding our energy policy in the next Congress:

Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), who will seek the Energy and Commerce Committee chairmanship maintains that we do not have to worry about climate change because God promised in the Bible not to destroy the world again after Noah’s flood.

Better crack open that Old Testament and start getting up to speed on how to deal with unemployment (slavery), adultery (death) and unwanted pregnancy (baby in a bulrush, naturally). When the Republican Party promised a return to the good old days, they really meant the old part.
