As reported by The Guardian:
The WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, is tonight facing growing legal problems around the world, with the US announcing that it was investigating whether he had violated its espionage laws.
Assange's details were also added to Interpol's worldwide wanted list. Dated 30 November, the entry reads: "sex crimes" and says the warrant has been issued by the international public prosecution office in Gothenburg, Sweden. "If you have any information contact your national or local police." It reads: "Wanted: Assange, Julian Paul," and gives his birthplace as Townsville, Australia.
They will stop at nothing.
As I understand it, neither the Swedish Prosecutor, nor the women concerned originally wanted to pursue this matter. If he is guilty, he should be tried ....
.... but who among us really wonders at this amount of coincidence?
UPDATE
Kossacks ... Thank you for the Rec. List.
With respect to the rape charges .... They are, indeed, very serious charges, and no amount of helpful leaking should shield Julian Assange from justice.
But, and there is a bit but .... this suggests that something else may be at work. As long ago as August 21st, Swedish authorities were saying that JA was cleared of all charges:
In what has to have been a nightmare experience for him, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been cleared of charges of rape and molestation in Sweden, false charges issued by two women, one in her 20s and the other in her 30s. As reported at Zennie62.com, the charges looked like the anatomy of a smear campaign.
According to Aljazeera, Eva Finne, Sweden's chief prosecutor, Julian Assange was "no longer wanted."
