Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the incoming chair of the House Oversight Committee, perhaps fearing that presumptive House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) was trying to steal his thunder with the announcement that Cantor wants an "'oversight' hearing of the week" to investigate the Obama administration, has upped the ante:
Issa wants his seven subcommittees to work at a pace of one or two hearings a week--meaning "seven hearings a week, times 40 weeks" ... "As Clint Eastwood says, a man needs to know his limitations," Issa said. The California Republican says his committee's job is to "measure failures," though "oversight should be done with a balance for the American people and not as a gotcha."
And presumably, somewhere between those seven hearings a week for 40 weeks, Issa will strike that balance and find some time to govern.
