It's looking highly unlikely that Democrats in the House or Senate will stop Obama's Tax Cuts for the Wealthy.
The Senate has scheduled a cloture vote for Monday. Even though Bernie Sanders had his famous fillibuster, I noticed that not too many other Senators showed up. There have been articles stating that Obama is throwing in some more renewable energy programs. I think we can bet that there will be no fillibuster in the Senate, and that the bill will pass with a sizable number of Dems voting for it.
As far as the House goes, well Obama needs only like 50 Dems with all of the Republicans supporting it. Pelosi blocked the bill previously, but that appears to be mostly symbolic. No indication that that will be her final move, and now she is talking about renewable energy also.
So basically Obama will get his way by throwing in some meaningless sweeteners. It is hard to beat the bill with the support of Republicans, and let's face it, a lot of Dems are fairly indistiguishable from Republicans anyways.
Congratualations, President Obama and Axelrod !
