The judge in the electronic signature case has issued a tentative ruling, that digital signatures will not be permitted to help bring initiatives to the ballot.
"The digital image of a purportedly completed initiative petition stored on a USB flash drive does not constitute a petition or paper for purposes of determining what the elections office must process," Miram wrote in his tentative ruling.

This is bad news for the Restore Equality 2010 campaign; without digital signatures, it's hard to see how we could collect enough signatures to get it onto the ballot.
