This diary breaks a rule, it is a repetitive theme.
For a few years, before joining , I had been reading DailyKos. There were/are my personal issues with flame wars, and attacks aimed at those minority, extreme right wingers, that cause me to reflect on the value of this site. Rants are understandable, pure hatred and loathing, not so much in my book. Besides, you're talking to the choir on this site, not the minority opposition. Do some take pleasure by vicariously promoting the same hate filled vitriol you find on RedState?

There are also diaries that go beyond honest criticism of members in President Obama's administration, blue dogs, other Progressives, and diaries that support President Obama. Don't get me wrong here, imho, Rahm Emanuel and Tim Geithner deserve close scrutiny. If both should announce tomorrow that they are leaving "to devote more time to their families", I would not be disappointed.
Hijacking anyone's diary is not my purpose. Nor, is it my purpose to blockquote examples of what I find distasteful. Every minute spent on indulging in unproductive dialog is time lost in fighting for the values I find worthwhile. Flame wars, anti-teabag rants, name calling and gossip, sheshhh, need I say more?
There are many talented writers/journalists on this site. I've spent a lot of time laughing until it hurt after reading exchanges of extremely pithy comments, filled with hilarious comedy, masterful use of innuendo, or double entendre. The education on issues is an added bonus.
After reading an anti-teabag rant and comments, I was reminded of Christopher Buckley. He is a writer par excellence, imho. While his vocabulary may contain a select number of four letter words, his use of the English language is masterful. You do recall that he supported President Obama, opposed the Sarah/John maverick duo? So much for yesterday, what does he have to say about his fellow conservatives at CPAC? My favorites include: "Geriatrics against Obama, Incontinent conservatism, that giant sucking sound and the ninth circle of right-wing hell".

As CPAC continues its right-wing celebration this weekend, The Daily Beast’s Christopher Buckley (politely) takes on his first cousin, Brent Bozell III, and the other signers of the Mount Vernon Statement, for trying to redefine conservatism by updating his father’s original manifesto—when all they’re really doing is bashing Obama.
.... that giant sucking sound you’ve been hearing these last two days has been issuing from a series of conservative hootenannies in and around Washington, DC, in the ninth circle of right-wing hell.
Last time around it was "compassionate conservatism." What followed for eight years could have been more accurately called "Incontinent conservatism." In any event...
Hootenanny No. 2—ongoing as I type—is the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, held in the same hotel—I just can’t resist mentioning this deliciously inconvenient truth—where the late Senator Joseph McCarthy used to hang out when not in West Virginia holding aloft lists of State Department commies.
"My question is: Where are the youngsters? ...more like Geriatrics Against Obama.

I thought of it Saturday while listening to—brace yourselves—Glenn Beck, giving the keynote at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
I’ve not been a fan of Beck’s. (Rather the opposite, in fact, while conceding that he is at least a very talented demagogue.)
So what’s the takeaway from CPAC 2010? Only this: It’s going to be messy between now and November, but conservatives are, for better or worse, fired up and ready to go. Funny—the phrase sounds vaguely familiar. Where can I have heard it before?
