Yet without education of the masses and without good jobs for all, humanity is screwed. Consider the short term. Democrats will lose both the House and the Senate if many more good paying jobs are not created in the near future. Imagine the CEO who took the amalgam of computer giants . HP, Compag and DEC (Yeah the merged companies are called HP) . to near financial ruin, in the Senate proposing her cut the deficit and ruin the country program . a true devil in sheep's clothing. I have a hard time imagining a worse Senator than former pitching great Jim Bunning. Yet Rand Paul surely qualifies.
Without many more jobs created before the end of September, these ass wipes and others will win and take over the congress. Deficit cutting will become the lay of land and the unemployment level may go way above that of the Great Depression, over 20%. Already people are saying 10% is the new long term norm. If you think Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are extremists then ya ain't seen nothing yet. Communists and Fascists will be coming out of the woodwork like termites coming to a party.
Arguing that unemployment would be worse will not cut the mustard, the people smell limburger. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Ried, and Barack Obama need to push for a strong jobs creation bill to be passed into law before July 4. Having Ben Bernanke talk about a "Fragile Recovery" is nice, but does not create jobs. Nor does such talk deal with the loss of jobs in the states will kill the recovery such as it is. Even wealthy counties are being forced to cut back and as Bob Herbert points out in ‘A Very Deep Hole’ Entire communities are going under.
The long term solution is education. Only through education for our children, starting at conception and ending at death will we be able to achieve a high standard of living for ourselves and the world. By granting power to all to manage their live and achieve a high standard of living, conflict can be so reduced that we can say it is ended.
How do we get there? I speak of spending trillions of dollars and people ask "Where will the money come from?" What my questioners fail to realize is that money is only important as a lubricant. Unlike lubricants money is not real. Money facilitates the exchange of goods. Money does not create the goods themselves. People create goods and instead of receiving the goods they create for barter, they receive money with which to purchase other goods. The goods are the important factor, not the money.
Education provides the means to produce goods more efficiently, i.e. with less work. Education does much more than enabling the more efficient production of goods. Most importantly education enables us to understand the consequences of our decisions. Decisions from our basic needs, to eat, fuck, to our need to self actualize and everything in between. Even better education provides the means to satisfy our needs. Part of what makes Barak Obama a great man is his need to make the world a better place. He is satisfying that need by becoming the leader of the most powerful nation and making wise decisions. His need like that of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, will never be fully satisfied.
One problem we have is those whose need is for power. President George W. Bush and his brain, turd blossom (an apt name since Karl made a turd, W, blossom).
The bottom line is simple, don't worry about deficits! Worry about wealth creation through jobs and education.
