Yes, the Republicans have consistently said no to any measure that would help Americans recover in the hopes America will forget that it is Republican rule that we must recover from:
But the barrage of "no" votes from the GOP has not abated. Emboldened by sagging approval ratings of the Democratic-controlled Congress, Republicans almost unanimously opposed a bill to overhaul the financial regulatory system that President Obama signed into law; they are against a measure to increase the disclosure of campaign spending by corporations; and they've largely eliminated the chance of passing a series of measures Democrats say could help the economy.
The opposition has left Democrats fuming. They say Republicans complain that Congress should focus more on the economy but oppose every measure Democrats take up to create jobs. In the Democratic view, the GOP is cynically blocking measures to reduce unemployment so they ensure an angry electorate this fall who will want to vote out incumbents, most of whom are Democrats.

While this may seem a viable strategy to win back Congress, it sure is not very patriotic and it is definitely not good for our country. Then, when you hear their very own Senator for Communist China Mitch McConnell explain away their opposition to America recovering from the mess he had such a huge hand in creating you begin to realize that not only is the modern Republican Party he leads hypocritical and uncaring of anyone who works for a living or lost their jobs because of outsourcing and the crashed economy, but their tactics border on being just plain evil:
"We think the American people agree with our argument," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the architect of the GOP's opposition in Congress. "The spending issue is resonating."
Yes, the spending issue should resonate. But when you really consider the spending issue as a whole, one begins to wonder why in the hell Americans would ever trust Republicans with control of even the local convenience store. You see, despite their rhetoric their record tells a very different, and sorry story. It has not been Democratic "tax and spend" policies that has made our debt so high but Republican "spend and spend" policies and tax cuts for the rich. Just look at this chart that spells out the national debt quite nicely:
http://www.lafn.org/...
Yes, if Republicans wish to compare Democratic debt and Republican debt, our party should not back down one step from that fight. The simple fact of the matter is that when it comes to the national debt, Democrats have been the more fiscally responsible party by far, and under Republicans deficits soared and our debt sky rocketed:
By comparison, please note that Democratic President Bill Clinton increased the National Debt by less than $18 Billion in his ENTIRE LAST YEAR in office! At the rate that the Clinton administration was reducing the debt increases, an Al Gore administration would have almost paid off the entire National Debt by 2008! We would have had EIGHT STRAIGHT YEARS OF DEBT DECREASES!!! A far cry from what Bush and the Republicans gave us.
Bill Clinton steadily reduced the debt increase while he was in office, thanks largely to the 1993 Debt Reduction Act* that was OPPOSED BY EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN IN CONGRESS, led by Newt Gingrich! The Republicans claimed that the Debt Reduction Act would result in HIGHER deficits and also result in an economic recession during President Clinton's term. Obviously, with hindsight they were completely wrong. Republicans don't seem to be very good at math, or economics.
Now, after 20 years of huge Republican deficits and Republican recessions, the National Debt has increased from $937 Billion -- LESS than $1 Trillion -- the day Ronald Reagan took office to ALMOST $10 TRILLION!!! The Debt has increased more than TEN TIMES what it was when Ronald Reagan promised to reduce the National Debt by 1983! We and our children and their children will be paying off the debt added by Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush for the next 100 years and more! For what !?!? Services have been cut across America. Police and Fire Departments haven't grown nearly as fast as our population. Even the number of troops in the military has been cut while military spending has skyrocketed!
Unfortunately that is the Republican strategy to win back Congress and finish destroying our country with debt thrown away to the wealthy and the Communists in China. They want to block any measure that will help America recover from the debt and crashed economy they themselves caused, all while blaming it on someone else. In other words America, Republicans are banking on the hope that you are stupid. Their whole existence depends on you forgetting their horrible stewardship of America while in power and on you not being armed with the facts about how our country got here because you do not want gays to be married or you are afraid someone is going to take your gun.
However, the numbers simply do not lie. And the numbers paint a quite scary picture of what Republican control of anything in this country does. If Republicans get control of this country again you are gonna need that gun to hunt down the food you can no longer afford to buy.
But you see, that has been the objective of the modern Republican Party the whole time. They cannot stand that our country was the first country founded on the principles of the Enlightenment and they would do anything to roll that back and create a two-class society in which a very few "lords" get all the power and wealth, and all of us "serfs" in the unwashed masses just shut up and do what the hell we are told and accept what little compensation they give us to feed and sustain our families.
I just hope America sees through this garbage and understands the true agenda of selfish, evil men like Mitch McConnell and his Republican flock of Corporate elitists. If we do not, the very existence of our nation is at stake.
