This kind of Republican hypocrisy is exactly what's wrong with Washington and it's why I'm going on the offense against a Republican in 2010.
Here's what they actually said at the fundraiser:
Dent talking about Boehner: "He's been a very good friend and I just wanted to say one thing, I asked him for the Appropriations Committee, and he put me on the Ethics Committee"
(Laughter)
Boehner: "Oh, it was appropriations you wanted? You know listen, you can't have, you can't have the dessert until you eat your vegetables."
During a debate we held on 9/13, here's what Congressman Dent said about the Ethics Committee when he knew the cameras were on:
Dent: "I serve on the House Ethics Committee and my job is to help police the House, make sure members abide by the rules. Very few people have confidence in their elected officials, that they are doing the right thing. And I'm proud to tell you that since I've been on that committee, it's only 10 members, five and five, it's functioning, we're actually doing things and I'm proud of that."
The hypocrisy of this Bush-era Republican is truly jaw dropping and reforming Washington to get rid of politicians like this is exactly why I decided to run for Congress.
We're working very hard to win in one of the most competitive districts in the entire country and I need your support to win this election.
To underscore just how competitive this district is, the Fix in the Washington Post just named it as one of the top opportunities in the Nation to defeat a Republican Incumbent.
Pennsylvania's 15th District: For the past several election cycles, Democrats tried unsuccessfully to lure Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan into the race for this Allentown-area seat. He finally said yes this time around, and Democrats think his Bethlehem base and outsider profile give them a shot to upset Rep. Charlie Dent (R) in a district Obama carried by 13 points in 2008.

I am committed to going on the offense against these hypocritical Washington Republicans and I hope you’ll join me.
Thank you,
Mayor John Callahan
