"This, Too, is a BFD" - Rachel's looking good & well - rested! She's in L.A. tonight. Remember all that Wall Street bailout $hit? Congress initially voted to not bailout Wall Street; the Dow dropped like a wet rock. After the debt "deal" was signed, sealed, and delivered, the Dow still dropped like a wet rock. Rachel called the debt deal a sign of an economy run over by a car, and the economy has to lie down in the road so it can be run over again. HELLO?!
Look at all the jobs that are potentially going to be lost by this debt "deal." *&^%$#@! Rachel played the clip of Speaker Sobbin' Small Price to Pay Goldilocks getting "98% of what he wanted." AND, Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner says we're not out of the downgrade woods yet - even with the "deal." President Obama wants Congress to redirect its efforts toward jobs; President Obama, Congress is on vacation for the next month! *&^%$#@!
Rachel had some choice words for President Obama's expectations of the GOBP in future "negotiations." Rep. Peter Welch gets to talk debt "deal." He voted "no" yesterday. Rep. Welch wants wants efforts towards infrastructure rebuilds & green energy toward job creation - kind of a 21st century WPA.
"The Big Guns" - President Obama met with the AFL - CIO & SOD Leon Panetta; defense items might - just might - be cut if other cuts can't be agreed upon. I'm not holding my breath that certain Congress critters & oodles of defense contractors will allow that to happen.
Our country spends way more on defense than most of the rest of the "civilized" world combined, and heaven help anyone who tries to change that. Josh Rogin gets to talk the possibility of defense cuts; he's not holding his breath for them, either, because the amount of potential defense cuts hasn't been specified.
"Total Recall" - WI recall elections are a week from today!
We all remember what's been going on in WI since November 2010, yes? ;D A fire destroyed a local "We Are Wisconsin!" office - the group backing the Dems in the recall elections. Rachel also brought up the Kochtopus sparking around with absentee ballots.
Dems need to gain 3 seats next week. Wow, if that would happen, it would go a l...o...n...g way to easing some ill will & angst! State Senator Jon Erpenbach is back to talk recall.

"Grounded" - Congress skipped town before doing anything about the FAA furloughs & partial shut - down. Oodles of folks are jobless - so much for that "jobs...jobs...jobs" mantra of the GOBP. Country first, my a$$!
The FAA shut down will cost we, the people more than a billion dollars. HOLY $HIT! I wonder why Delta Airlines is so bat$hit anti - union?
"Best New Thing in the World Today" - Rachel gave uber - props to her pinch hitters, Melissa Harris Perry & Chris Hayes! :D INDEED!! Chris is also officially a MSNBC employee; I can't decide if I'm happy about that or not. Rachel signed a new long - term contract, too {sigh}.
