Despite the fact that it looked like Republicans in the state legislature were going to pass a partisan map by a simple majority, an 11th hour deal was struck with legislative Democrats. The map they agreed to was passed just today and received over 2/3rds support in both chambers of the state legislature, staving off the potential for a people's veto movement and court challenges.
Here's the agreed-upon map:

A little more detail below the fold.
For comparison's sake, here is the current Maine Congressional map:

What the map that was just passed in both chambers will do is:
The Kennebec County Map plan, as it is called, will leave much of the existing congressional district lines the same. Following legal guidelines, the plan splits no towns and splits voters evenly between the two districts (+/- 1), but will move the city of Waterville into the First Congressional District which is currently served by Rep. Chellie Pingree.
Also, Rep. Chellie Pingree is no longer drawn out as she would be under the Republican's previous partisan proposal.
What does everyone think? Did Maine Democrats get a fair deal or what?
