Instead, the table is plastered with information on child molestation. A sign, with the picture of Elizabeth Smart prominently displayed, reads: “Please sign petition for Elizabeth Smart, etc.” It then goes on to list the name of Chelsea King (for whom Chelsea’s Law, California’s sex offender law, is named), in addition to listing items like “sexual servitude” and child molestation by clergy. Then, the petition underneath all of this stuff is a petition to put SB 48 on the ballot. Signatures are being acquired not based on what the FAIR Education Act actually does, but by telling people they’re signing a petition to stop child molestation.
Watch:
The “Stop SB 48” campaign, by the way, is claiming today that it will meet the deadline for gathering the required signatures. They omit that their activists are using child molestation to solicit signatures for a history education bill, but I guess that’s not important.
Let me abruptly change the subject – but this is totally freaking related.
Joe My God is reporting that anti-gay zealot and Loudoun County, Virginia, supervisor Eugene Delguadio (who has quite the, erm, interesting history) is crusading against pending federal anti-bullying legislation by claiming that it will legalize the sexual assault of straight students by gay students. Seriously.

This, once again, is what it comes down to. Lying because the public no longer wants to buy what they’re selling. Unfortunately, as we’ve seen so often, their strategy is a strategy that, in the short term at least, works.
