So, what might stop Obama from doing something so disastrous?
Letting him -- and his enablers in the institutional "liberal" groups that keep covering for him -- know we won't stand for it.
The polling out there already shows that, but polls aren't as vivid as letters to the editor, or calls to radio call-in shows during commuting drive times. Or calls to Democratic congresscritters telling them that if they let Obama destroy Social Security in the name of "saving" it, they will soon learn that it still very much is the third rail of politics.
That last may be especially effective. They've already seen what happens when he forced them to yoke up to a health-care bill that was written by Max Baucus' good friend and WellPoint VP Liz Fowler, a bill which didn't have things like drug price negotiation for Medicare, much less a public option, because those things had already been dealt away back in the spring and summer of 2009, as even Tom Daschle admitted in his book, though he's tried to essentially pretend he didn't. So they're already aware that Obama is more than willing to trick them into doing something that will be devastating to their electoral health so he can further his own chances.
Let them know to let him know: You won't let him get away with backstabbing those of us within hailing distance of retirement just so he can get a few extra tens of millions in corporate cash for his 2012 kitty. Your ability to survive your golden years depends on it.
