To list the items individually the future should be about
-
forming a more perfect union;
-
establishing justice;
-
insuring domestic tranquility;
-
providing for the common defense;
-
promoting the general welfare; and
-
securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
The future will come. There is no winning or losing. There is no game and I sure hope there will be no more wars. All of the above needs work, particularly promoting the general welfare. But they all need work. I can go into details, but I am troubled that to President Obama the future is about winning.
So some country wins the competition. What happens to the countries that lose. Well look at Egypt. Look at Tunisia. Look at Somalia. They all lost. Is this good for the "common defense?" Hell no. Wouldn't it be better if there was no competition and the "general welfare" was promoted?
Now let's look at winning. US corporations are winning. US financial services companies are winning. If winning means the middle class sinks into poverty, then is winning what we want. I think not. The country is not a private company and the President is not a CEO. Yeah, I know republicans see the country through such lenses, but must we democrats look through the same fractured lenses?
Get off the competition jag and let's get back to the constitution and get on with the program.
