A different concern about Egypt and Tunisia

The media and here at DailyKos many people have raised excellent concerns about what is happening in the Middle East. The following three factors have played important roles, poor economic conditions, the unemployed youth, and digital communications (Internet and cell phones).

We need to pay attention to the three factors. Why? Well the US and parts of Europe are suffering from poor economic conditions and unemployed youth. We also have many people using the Internet and cell phones. To make matters more volatile the US has lots of guns, many of them assault weapons.

I expect, though I do not hope, economic conditions will worsen. The summer recovery never happened. Austerity assholes combined with severe state budget problems may cause unemployment to skyrocket.

I see spontaneous demonstrations spring up out of no where with no leadership. Mix in guns and we can have a catastrophe. While the media is quick to point to authoritarian dictatorships as an important cause, and it is, they refuse to look seriously at the other three factors and how those factors may impact the developed world.

The need to address high unemployment and poor economic conditions is immediate. Even without the austerity assholes economic conditions will get worse and poverty will increase. Unemployment may decrease, but only because people will no longer be looking for work.

This is serious. It is serious in the middle east. It is serious in Pakistan. It is serious here.

Despite doing all I know to do, there is little I know to prevent this from happening. Your ideas and suggestions are needed.
