Yes, Conservatives and Republicans hate government. It keeps them from being able to prey upon those less fortunate than they are who do not have millions and billions in their bank accounts. While they preach their hypocritical "patriotism" to all of us they ignore one simple fact.
Without this American system all their wonderful wealth would not exist. Do they really think that they would have amassed such a fortune somewhere else?? Since they love putting the slaves in Communist China to work do they consider what would happen if they actually LIVED in China?? Do they think they would have so much wealth as to exploit the children there as they do now from the comfort of America??
So, in their infinate greed and crack-addict mentality they believe they should just be able to take and take and use the American system to merely exploit other Americans and indeed others around the world for yet more wealth without ever having to pay anything back to that very system. They care nothing of their country when they are called upon to make the sacrifices that continue to make our country strong, much less care anything about the people they employ, or their fellow Americans who have fallen prey to the unbalanced economy these people have created.
And so this hatred for the stimulus. You see, these people never mind money being wasted as long as it is wasted on them and their narrow, failed vision of the world. They clamor for war and a huge tax cut for themselves at the same time running up over a trillion dollars in debt. They crash the economy causing over a trillion more in debt and what is their only solutions to the whole mess?? Another huge tax cut for them and more de-regulation on their businesses despite the fact that being so underegulated allowed them to crash the economy just two or so short years ago.
The fact is that the stimulus DID work. The only problem with it was it should have been more. The only problem they had with it was that for once in the last decade or so the government spent money that they did not get to slop up. You see, the stimulus actually DID help many folks stay just above poverty level, specifically several government programs designed to help average, working Americans who have fallen prey to unemployment or low wages:
Despite a deep recession, very high unemployment, and widespread hardship, a combination of existing safety net programs and temporary expansions in them enacted in 2009 all but prevented a rise in the poverty rate that year, according to a Center analysis of new poverty data the U.S. Census Bureau released this week that includes the effects of non-cash benefits and tax credits. This is a remarkable achievement; poverty usually burgeons in major recessions.
The poverty protection came partly from existing programs — such as unemployment insurance, assistance programs for low-income households, and tax credits for low-income working families. But the bulk of the poverty protection came from improvements that the 2009 Recovery Act (ARRA) made in various programs. Although the Recovery Act was designed chiefly to bolster a collapsing economy, it generated the important side effect of protecting millions of families against poverty and massive income losses. Center analysis of the new Census data shows that the Recovery Act kept more than 4.5 million people out of poverty in 2009: 1.3 million people through extensions and expansions of federal unemployment benefits, 1.5 million people through improvements in the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, nearly 1 million people through the Making Work Pay tax credit, and another 700,000 people through an increase in benefit levels for the SNAP program (previously called food stamps).
The impact of these programs helps to explain why, under the "alternative" poverty measures that the Census Bureau released yesterday — which count non-cash benefits like food stamps and tax credits and which most analysts consider superior to the official poverty measure — poverty did not rise between 2008 and 2009, even as the economy fell deeper into recession, unemployment increased sharply, and many Americans lost their homes to foreclosure. The official poverty measure misses these effects because it counts only conventional cash income and does not reflect the income that non-cash benefits and tax credits provide.

Get that?? After this little particular piece of information it is comes into focus. Of course Republicans hate government and the stimulus. It actually kept 4.5 million people out of poverty after the greed and excess of the Bush years and the Do Nothing Good Republican Congress that ran from 1994 to 2006. It kept those their policies ran out of work and those whose wages reflect the greed of the elite class from starving.
Now, after winning their huge tax cuts for people that did not need them they will embark on cutting programs for people who do need them. They will try and repeal the healthcare law because once millions who could not have healthcare before without going bankrupt get it they will want to keep it. Just like the Social Security Republicans also hope to steal.
As long as government and any program or proposal such as the stimulus helps folks besides the elites do more than just shove more money in their own pockets they will always hate it. They feel America should be a land where a very few prosper while the rest work like slaves and snap at the grass to keep from starving. They do not love America and are not patriots. They hate anything that does not feed their addiction and hate to hear that even the most helpless in society get something to maintain their own sustanence.
So while they rail against "big government" it means only one thing. They hate their country, the American way, and the spirit it was built on. They hate their neighbors who are not as fortunate and would rather them starve if it means not buying their fifth yacht. If you work an honest job and expect to be paid an honest wage, they hate you. This American system and the people that try to work within it have done far more for them than they will ever do for anything in their miserable, selfish lives.
These are the true enemies and terrorists that threaten our country more than any enemy we will ever face again from the outside. I believe they will never settle until they bring tear the fabric of the American way down and burn it. They will prey on us all as long as we refuse to wake up, stand up and stop letting them. I for one am beyond fed up with their selfish idiocy.
