Many Republicans in my family, but I don't recognize what is advertised under that brand currently. Modern Republicans are a bunch of pasty faced boys that evade service to their country whenever possible. Getting elected to be the errand boy (or girl) of modern corporations does not qualify as public service. They wouldn't know good government if they saw it. Two of the new ones actually thought that raising their hands to swear in via a television broadcast was valid. Think about that one. They were at a fundraiser instead of the swearing in. Well I raised my hand and swore at the tv today, so I guess I'm a member of congress too. Tricky Dick Nixon took the modern GOP down the rathole in the 60's and they've been diving ever deeper ever since.

I guess the Apollo program really influenced me. Getting a man to the moon and back before the end of the decade and all that (Thank You President Kennedy). Ya know, Science, as opposed to religious fundamentalists doing whatever the voices in their head tell them to do.
We have one of the most knowledgable climate scientists in the world in Dr. James Hansen who did his work at NASA, telling us in no uncertain terms that rising levels of carbon dioxide and methane and greenhouse gases in general have now, as in NOW, changed life on Earth forever. We need to mitigate the situation and go into overdrive to do so. the Bush White House worked against any positive action with all their dollars and lies. Progressive Democrats know the crisis is real but how many of them commit to the crisis? Al Gore has done his part. He looked at the situation and he has responded. Time is of the essence. Every minute of business as usual condemns our descendants in time to a degraded life on this planet. That is the situation. How many more generations of Americans will prevail here?
So WAKE UP. The Dems don't amount to more than a hill of beans, but the R's need to stop the nonsense. They're fiddling while the planet burns. They are earning their special place in hell.
Boehner is the worst kind of political hack. His head is so far up the corporate periscope that it makes him cry. Johnny boy, you cannot be that full of delusion and expect not to be sad. You are a sellout.
But, stop wasting valuable time. Stop doing the expedient "Rovian", "Limbogian" thing and WAKE UP. Wanna stop crying? Do the right thing instead of what you've done to make your career all these years.
Is that even possible?
