Herman Cain Says Liberals Killed Jesus

The Herminator has been getting a free pass as far as his previous positions, like when he ran for the Senate in Georgia by promising to ban abortion in cases of rape and incest.

But Herman is by nature a chatterbox, so there's bound to be many gems of wisdom to be found. And since his is a very conservative Baptist minister from Georgia, they are going to sound odd to those of us not who aren't blessed with a knowledge of ultraconservative culture in the Deep South.

Anyway, here's one of Herman's columns where he calls Jesus the "perfect conservative" who was killed by "liberals," and apparently the modern liberal anti-Christian bias that Cain perceives is just part of a two thousand year program of hatred of conservatives by the Christ-killing liberals.

Cain has been a fairly well known figure on the conservative scene for nearly 20 years, so there is a whole body of writing that has gone unexamined. Here's his "war on Christmas" column from last year. It came to my attention here

(Jesus) helped the poor without one government program......He healed the sick without a government health care system. .....He was unemployed, and never collected an unemployment check.

I think there was some nepotism there, what with Jesus' dad being God and all. OK, fine, so Jesus was a wingnut who not want us to help others. Got it.

And as MrBigDaddy points out in the comments, Jesus did all that for free. Who is this "God" who interferes with letting the free market set prices? The first rule of the free market is that nothing in the market is free!

He was arrested and taken to jail, and no, He was not read any Miranda Rights. He was arrested for just being who He was and doing nothing wrong.

I'm not sure how to interpret that dog whistle. Jesus was a conservative and liberals hate giving people their Miranda rights? Maybe Herman was hitting the eggnog.

And why is this your Christmas column anyway, Herman? You're talking about Easter here. But I guess Christmas is the perfect day for culture war issues.

He didn’t have a lawyer,

Yeah because liberals won't let people have a lawyer I guess.

.....nor did He care about who judged Him.

But how could he be a conservative and not whing about "activist judges?"

And when they tried Him in court, He never said a mumbling word.

This turns out to be old spiritual song.

And then we get this pearl of wisdom

The liberal court found Him guilty of false offenses and sentenced Him to death, all because He changed the hearts and minds of men with an army of 12.....Never before and not since has there ever been such a perfect conservative.......For over 2,000 years the world has tried hard to erase the memory of the perfect conservative, and His principles of compassion, caring and common sense.

Anyway, blah blah blah...."political correctness"......"public square" ......"Founding Fathers"....blah blah.

What do the boys at RedState say? Interestingly, this was before they decided Cain was the man to free America from the oppression of reverse racism as inflicted on the white man by Barrack Hussein Obama, and they were at best rather lukewarm to Cain.
