As I noted earlier in a comment, I hurt my back last night and, horribly, couldn't attend the Madison rally to recall Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. As a result, I can only do the next best thing: bring you the coverage available in FitzWalkerKochStan.
An estimated by Capitol police as between 25-30,000 gathered in a rally around the State Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin. The recall officially started at 12:01 AM November 15th (when I signed). This is the first weekend of the recall.
Crowd estimates of 40,000 are appearing on the live blog here.
News isn't on just yet on local stations that are finishing the college football programs, but here's a sampling of the fare online:
WTMJ in Milwaukee. The video associated with the small article is wonky. I hope they fix it soon.
WISN crickets on the front page even in their "headlines" blurb, but i was finally able to locate their story by resorting to search.
WITI (local Fox) - Zip, zero, nada. Not even a searchable article or blurb.
WDJT - The big zero from them, too.
You'd think a rally with tens of thousands would merit a mention.
There is, however, a lengthy article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal
Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold signed a petition as he helped kick off the rally about 9 a.m. Saturday.
"Thank you for being on the front line of taking back Wisconsin," he told several hundred volunteers gathered at Madison's Majestic Theatre.
Too bad Russ (who polls the best statewide against Walker) has already said he won't run:
But despite shouts of "Governor Feingold!" and "Run, Russ, run!" from the volunteers, Feingold reiterated that he won't run against Walker if the signature drive is successful.
"I want there to be a new governor," Feingold told reporters outside the theater. "There will be a new governor in a few months, but it won't be me."
He said he sees his role as a supporter of restoring "civility and unity" to the state, rather than as a candidate.

There are nice quotes from atendees at the protest, so the article is well worth reading.
On top of the recall rally a Can Walker food drive (sponsored by the Teamsters) is also being held simultaneously. Participants in the rally were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for needy families.
I'll keep looking for more sources of informaiton on todays events while waiting for my back to heal so I can get on recalling.

Update #2: Posted a video of Feingold's speech (and him signing the recall petition). Other video off You Tube has my security software closing down the site. I'll keep looking.
Update #3: Still crickets (no new information) from our local media although I can get up to date information on Natalie Wood and great video of the Milwaukee holiday parade. Nada on CNN or MSNBC.
