In 2006, the netroots was instrumental in my unlikely victory in NY-20 and today, I’m asking for your help in another red upstate NY seat.
On May 24th, there’s a special election in NY’s 26th district, which is east of Buffalo in beautiful Western NY. Much like NY-20, Republicans hold a strong registration advantage here but just as we did in 2006, Democrats have a real chance to pick up this seat this year.
Our candidate in this race is Erie County clerk Kathy Hochul, a dedicated public servant who won re-election last year with 79% of the vote. She is an extremely strong candidate and according to a new Siena poll, is only 5 points behind the Republican.
Today I’m proud to endorse Kathy and I hope you’ll join me in supporting her campaign so we can begin to eat away at the extremist GOP majority in the House.
I need Kathy Hochul as a partner in Washington so please contribute what you can to her campaign.
With the GOP pursuing an anti-woman and anti-family agenda, it’s more important than ever that we elect a strong Democratic pro-choice woman to Congress. I know that Kathy will stand strong for our common values, vote against defunding women’s health care and protect the social safety net that serves the most vulnerable among us.
Kathy has already made clear that she strongly opposes Paul Ryan’s budget plan, which would privatize Medicare, a plan that her Republican opponent supports. Kathy knows that this is the central issue of our day and of this election and isn’t letting up, as you can see from Kathy's newest ad of the campaign:
I’m proud to endorse Kathy and hope you’ll take a minute to support her as well. The election is just a few weeks away and she needs all the resources she can get to go up against the Republican machine. How better to send the message to Republicans and the media that Democrats are coming back strong in 2012 than to take this bright red district from them this year.
Please contribute what you can to Kathy Hochul’s campaign so we can add another strong Democratic woman to our ranks in Washington.
