Folks, I support Obama, and will vote for him, but I am sorry to say that he has demonstrated an incredible amount of naivete in dealing with his opponents. These are not normal times. We are entering uncharted waters, and that (I believe) will become more evident with every passing day.
He's made incredibly serious mistakes in dealing with these opponents. Many times he has taken the podium and said that the Republicans (leadership) are decent people; that they want the best for the nation; that he knows they are reasonable.
I know he (Obama) is a decent man and he may be trying to be magnanimous; to be above the fray; to be cordial; to be reasonable. He appears to believe in the inherent goodness and reasonableness of the American people, and even of his opponents.
I sincerely hope that that gambit pays off for him (and for us), but I'm afraid he may have committed a terrible mistake in dealing with these opponents.
While he goes on praising these opponents, and when he is timid and measured (to an extreme) when criticizing them, he is missing a golden opportunity to take the bully pulpit and speak the truth of the matter; a truth that would help rally the people.
At the same time, the other side engages in a vicious and vitriolic campaign to delegitimize him, to demonize him. They trow everything at him; he wasn't born here; he's from Kenya; he palls around with terrorist; he hates white people; he's a socialist; he's the Antichrist.
This dire economic situation we are experiencing right now in the U.S. was manufactured, and avoidable. It was created by the looting of the country by a tiny elite (in plain sight). It was a "Shock Doctrine" event.
The next crisis (and next shock) will have also been manufactured, in order to create chaos so the extreme criminal gang of sociopaths that has been working on this for years can rise to power once and for all, resulting in the final coup de grâce against what is left of the American democracy.
And aside from the power they already have (by owning Congress, the entire media, and the entire financial system), they have at their disposal an army of useful idiots; the Dominionists; the Army of God; the end-of-days fanatics. And these lunatics; these extreme crazies, are armed and dangerous. They are chomping at the bit, holding the bible in one hand, and their semi-auto (issued by God) on the other, frantically rocking back and forth; waiting for their orders.
If we go into a sudden crisis (caused by the manufactured phony issue of the debt ceiling), this will create the conditions for these lunatics to see these events as some sort of end-of-days sign.
And the August 6th event may be the catalyst for "The Response."
I write these things, recognizing that it is a nightmarish scenario. There is one side of my intellect that tells me that these things are possible; that not only they are possible, but that they are actually happening right now.
The other skeptical side tells me that I may be coming up with the wrong conclusions; that things are not really that bad.
My intention is not to prove that these things are going to happen, since I understand that I'm taking on issues that are extremely complicated (kind of above my "pay grade").
But I think that is worth thinking about it. After all, a lot of very, very strange things have been happening during the last decade or so. Unprecedented things.
I will take no pleasure if these things come to past. I really hope I'm wrong.
