Moderator - Now suppose, Ron Paul, that a 25 year old oil company in strong financial health, through no fault of it's own, has some unproductive oil fields and drilled a few dry holes, without government subsidies, who's going to pay for this?
Ron Paul - Well sir, in a free market society a company must take responsibility for it's decisions.
Moderator - You're saying that the company will have to pay for it's own mistakes? They should take the money from their profits?
(Crowd gasps, A long-haired, pot smoking liberal stops hugging a tree long enough to shout "Death to Exxon, man!")
Ron Paul - That's the chance they took. In a free market you have to stand by the choices you make.
Moderator - So we just let them declare bankruptcy? Do you realize what this will do to their stockholders? Do you even care?
(The crowd is on their Birkenstock clad feet singing Kumbaya)
