Ron Paul is just ducky. A real progressive champion, if you exclude all that other stuff.
Ron Paul is an evil fucking bastard...that point is not in debate...or at least it shouldn't be.
But it seems that some folks here are a bit unclear on the concept of who is an evil fucking bastard. So, let's review Ron Paul
Ron Paul...Bigot
One example: A commentary in a 1992 Ron Paul Political Report on the Los Angeles riots was titled “A Special Issue on Racial Terrorism.” Among other things, it said: “The criminals who terrorized our cities — in riots and on every non-riot day — are not exclusively young black males, but they largely are.” It went on to say: “Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks three days after rioting began.”
OK, but that is just a quote from a long time ago..its just symbolic. Has Ron Paul actually done anything more demonstrably bigoted? You bet.
In 2006 (2006!) Ron Paul voted against renewal of the Voting Rights Act.
He has also written against the Civil rights act of 1964 and consistently opposed affirmative action.
[It] not only violated the Constitution and reduced individual liberty; it also failed to achieve its stated goals of promoting racial harmony and a color-blind society. Federal bureaucrats and judges cannot read minds to see if actions are motivated by racism. Therefore, the only way the federal government could ensure an employer was not violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was to ensure that the racial composition of a business's workforce matched the racial composition of a bureaucrat or judge's defined body of potential employees. Thus, bureaucrats began forcing employers to hire by racial quota. Racial quotas have not contributed to racial harmony or advanced the goal of a color-blind society. Instead, these quotas encouraged racial balkanization, and fostered racial strife.
Ron Paul...Sexist
Ron Paul is staunchly and unwaveringly opposed to abortion. He has repeatedly submitted the Sanctity of Life bill, which defines life as beginning at conception.
Ron Paul opposes sexual harassment laws.
"If it's just because somebody told the joke and somebody was offended, they don't have a right to go to the federal government and have a policeman to come in and put penalties on those individuals," Paul said in the Fox News interview with Chris Wallace, Sunday. "I mean, they have to say, well, maybe this is not a very good environment, and they have the right to work there or not there," he said.
Ron Paul...Homophobe
Supports the Defense of Marriage Act......Ron Paul will not use the bathroom of a gay person.
Ron Paul...wants to kill the poor, sick and disenfranchised
Ron Paul believes that Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are all 'unconstitutional' and should all be repealed. I am not being hyperbolic when I say that will lead to the premature deaths of the poor, sick and disenfranchised. Before Social Security there was...
Before the creation of Social Security, some Americans had private or state pensions, but most supported themselves into old age by working. The 1930 census, for example, found 58 percent of men over 65 still in the workforce; in contrast, by 2002, the figure was 18 percent.
The elderly also relied heavily on their families. ''Children, friends and relatives have borne and still carry the major cost of supporting the aged,'' the Committee on Economic Security, the Roosevelt administration panel that developed Social Security, reported in 1935. ''Several of the state surveys have disclosed that from 30 to 50 percent of the people over 65 years of age were being supported in this way.''
Before Medicare and Medicaid...
About half of older people did not have health insurance. Only unionized or government employees whose employment contracts provided for retirement health insurance were so lucky. But there weren't many such people in small-town Kansas.
Then, just as today, many seniors were living at or below the poverty line. Half of Medicare recipients today are living on $28,000 a year or less. But they do have Medicare Part A for hospital services.
Ron Paul... Economic Idiot
The moron wants to return to the gold standard, believes deficits are the worst thing we are facing right now (never mind unemployment [see hater of poor and disenfranchised]). If his economic policies were followed, the lousy economy we have would descend into something from "The Grapes of Wrath."
B, B, Bu, But, Ron Paul opposes drug laws and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Great, so do lots of folks who aren't bigots, sexists, homophobic, haters of the poor, sick and disenfranchised.
Rather than talk about Ron fucking Paul...why don't you talk about them? Seriously...do you really think Ron Paul is providing some kind of special INSIGHT into all of this? I dare anyone at DKos to provide some wonderful argument that Ron Paul has provided that has not been better argued by non-bigoted, non-sexist, non-homophobic, non-idiotic progressives.
Here's the simple point...the enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend. Ron Paul is your enemy...never forget that. There are plenty of folks who have been tirelessly working to oppose Iraq, oppose Afghanistan, oppose drug laws and oppose indefinite detention who are not Evil Fucking Bastards. Perhaps you should discuss those people in support of your positions rather than Ron Paul.
[WARNING: GOING FULL GODWIN] Because right now...folks who want to take Ron Paul seriously sound like folks using Hitler to advocate for vegetarianism. I mean seriously, other than the anti-semitism, genocide and war-mongering...Hitler had some very progressive views on eating meat.
