What will happen if Republicans take control of the US Senate? What will happen to public education?
It's a scary thought.
Democrats need to win at least four of the "toss-up" races for US Senate to prevent a Republican takeover of the Congress. Democrats are in tough fights in the swing states of Missouri, Montana, Nevada and Virginia. In Massachusetts, we have a true progressive running in Elizabeth Warren. Each of these races are critically important for any movement on a progressive agenda and renewing public education.
You can help these candidacies by supporting three organizations that are cutting through the all political ads, doing great person-to-person voter contact work. AmericaVotes and Working America are doing important work reaching voters all across the country, and will have a major impact on these elections. In Massachusetts, Neighbor to Neighbor is mounting an important voter turnout effort in the cities, and communities of color, and will have a significant impact on the outcome.
And visit Maria's List.net for information and links to amazing progressive leaders running for Congress. The candidates on Maria's List have progressive policy agendas and voting records. Each are leaders on critical issues: ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; supporting public education, health care reform, pro-choice, comprehensive immigration reform, inclusive governance and electoral reform, and global peace and development. Their presence provides greater representation for Women and People of Color, and leadership for progressives.
Please help in any way you can.
