The American Presidency is a de facto dictatorship. In recent times it has been used for nefarious purposes to usher in a de facto police state in the name of fighting a war against “terror.”
The American President, because we are at war, a war without end, has accrued “emergency” powers which allow the government, in complete secrecy without oversight or accountability, to monitor our every action against every precept of the Fourth Amendment. As the Executive of our Security State, the President has unprecedented power of Fiat. He literally has the power of life and death over every citizen in the nation.
Now is the time Mr. President to use those powers for good:
1. Lock up the bankers. Reform the system. Forgive the debt. Reboot.
2. Declare a National Emergency, bring the troops home and the military-industrial-complex to heel. The New Frontier is right here at home. We have a lot of work to do right here. And we can't afford both home and abroad. Empire, not leadership or influence, must be wound down. American leadership in the world comes from our adherence to principle which nurtures human civilization, not imperils it. There is no reason for war anymore. It is a product of the past and it's time to move on.
Empire was great while it lasted, but if we don't do something now about our infrastructure, agriculture, industry and regard for human values, the empire is dust in the wind.
Let's rebuild our towns and cities; new roads, bridges, water-supplies, sewage, public works, schools, etc. Let's step into the future instead of the apocalypse.
And, sad to say, with so much ignorant acrimony fueled by the religious fervor of zealots, mixed with a herd of deer in the headlights, only a truly benevolent dictator can get us out of this mess. A people this divided, embittered, armed and dangerous, a tinderbox citizenry, can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Only someone with the power of 'make it so' can remedy this dysfunctional family of Americans and do what is right for the country in the name of the people.
So, that's it Mr. President. Fix the System. End the Wars. Erase the Debt. Rebuild America from the ground up.
If you're going to be a dictator, be an American one.
