Now, the story above in turn cites some source called "Newsball*", which I've also never heard of...but they seem to have what appears to be, at least, the audio of the actual 9/11 call reporting the accident, a bunch of photos of the couple involved, and a bunch of backstory on the accident itself, the police response and Zimmerman's connection/involvement with it.
The claim made by both stories is that the crash itself was real, but that Officer Rehder tipped off Zimmerman so that he could show up at the scene to play hero.
I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, I'll leave it up to you to cull through this, but it seems worthy of at least looking into, and wouldn't surprise me in the least if it turns out to be the case.
Update: I've removed the link to the "Newsball" site because I just realized that they included photos of the children of the family involved in the car crash...I didn't notice that when I posted this last night, and would never have linked to that site if I had.
Regardless of how accurate their claims about Zimmerman being tipped off are, there was no reason to post pics of the kids.
Update x2: OK, it's looking more and more like this "Newsball" site is pretty scuzzy themselves. However, I'm going to leave the diary up because 1) the "Zimmerman was tipped off" part still sounds quite plausible, and 2) Simply deleting the diary would be covering up my poor judgment instead of admitting to it.
