"It's just one crazy person. Per job. Look, we have a quota."
This is why we can't have nice things, and by "nice things" I mean a government not staffed in large part by imbeciles: The decision by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R-ScandalPlagued, but I repeat myself) to hire a crazy person to be the "legislative liaison" for the Department of Revenue
[Kitchen Table Patriots founder Ana Puig] is as tea party as they come. In recent years, she has promoted an event featuring topics including “The Muslim Brotherhood and creeping sharia law in America” and “Pro-Islamic bias and indoctrination in our public school textbooks.”
There is no part of that that suggests "liaison" capabilities to anything, unless the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is planning legislative negotiations with the saucer people. Which, I freely admit, is possible.
In 2011, she defended a member of her Kitchen Table Patriots who sold Nazi memorabilia, including German World War II military uniforms, medals and badges, edged weapons, flags, field gear and Hitler Youth accessories. Puig told the Bucks County Courier Times that the Nazi-enthusiast in their ranks “is, in essence, our media guy” and “concentrates on taping events, streaming them live.”
Pfft, a Nazi memorabilia fetishist is hardly worth mentioning, these days. The Nazis really had some spot-on media handling going for them, too.
Her Kitchen Table Patriots website also features a blog that promotes the “birther” conspiracy, refers to the President as a “petulant child,” and says that Obama is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
So, how do Republicans find these people? There's clearly a Craigslist for insane Republican nutcases, is it open to everyone? Is there a membership fee? No matter how riddled with stupidity our politics would seem to be, the number of people founding their own groups claiming Obama is a secret Kenyan + Muslim + Marxist is still pretty damn low, compared to the general population, and yet they keep popping up in Republican offices like little mentally unbalanced prairie dogs. And we won't even get into that whole Southern Avenger
Puig also has her own pet conspiracy theory about the President’s “model for implementation of 21st century Marxism” in which she blames the media, the entertainment industry, and schools for branding the Messiah (President Obama) into our society.
Oh my God
, make it stop. There is no effing way this person just happened
to pop up needing a mid-tier gubbermint job and not a single member of Tom Corbett's office bothered to scroll down the ol' resume to read the parts written in squirrel blood and decorated with glitter explaining how Obama is the Kenyan Muslim Marxist Antichrist. Not in an environment in which all of the other peons have to surrender their Facebook passwords and pee in a cup when begging for a nice non-salt-mine-related job, not a chance. The only conclusion is that the Republican Party is so riddled with frothing crazy people that it is entirely impossible to separate them out and still keep a working office staff. But we already knew that.
