Those who see light...
Can walk in the dark...
Those who see love...
can see God...
Welcome to Brothers and Sisters, the weekly meetup for prayer* and community at Daily Kos. We put an asterisk on pray* to acknowledge that not everyone uses conventional religious language, but may want to share joys and concerns, or simply take solace in a meditative atmosphere. Anyone who comes in the spirit of mutual respect, warmth and healing is welcome.
This is the beginning of one of my favorite hymns.
Those Who See Light
by Nancy Elze, Donald Osuna
1. Those who see light can walk in the dark.
Those who see love can see God.
Those who look up will discover God's face,
those who look down will uncover God's path,
those who perceive God is here with us now
will see God's return.
2. Those who see light can walk in the dark.
Those who see love can see God.
Those who have witnessed the sunrise and set,
those who have studied a flower unfold,
those who have focused on land, sea, and sky
have seen Jesus Christ.
3. Those who see light can walk in the dark.
Those who see love can see God.
Those who see good in each person they meet,
those who look after their neighbors in need,
those who believe God's now living in them
will see God's return.
I was glad that this was one of our hymns for today-- I needed the message. I needed to be reminded of the hope that is in the light...of the hope that is in each one of us. Both international and domestic news are full of images that are frightening and disheartening... it really is a mad world.
But...
I am reminded that there is good in each person, and I can make the time and effort to see that good... and help nurture it.
That is what I can do in the face of darkness... I can help make it lighter for others, and in turn make it lighter for myself.
Peace...
