WHEREAS, the City of Oxford believes that diversity strengthens communities, enhances economic growth by helping attract business and create jobs, and is vital to the quality of life that makes Oxford a wonderful place to live and work, and
WHEREAS, a commitment to diversity recognizes that all individuals have inherent worth and should be treated with dignity and respect without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, sexual orientation, family status, veteran status, disability or source of income, and
WHEREAS, tolerance and acceptance will strengthen bonds between neighbors and will foster a welcoming environment for visitors, students and new residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Oxford declare it the policy of the City to reject discrimination of any kind and to respect the inherent worth of every person without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, sexual orientation, family status, veteran status, disability or source of income, this the 4th day of March, 2014.
