Received this e-mail from Mary Burke's (D. WI) gubernatorial campaign:
Wisconsin is just one of five states without an equal pay law protecting women from gender discrimination in their paycheck.
Women deserve equal pay for equal work. It’s just that simple.
Not too long ago Wisconsin protected women from pay discrimination through The Equal Pay Enforcement Act, but Scott Walker repealed it in 2012.
This is just another example of Walker putting politics ahead of what’s best for Wisconsin.
Will you join me and other leaders around the country and stand up for equal pay?
Stand with me and others across the country if you believe it’s time for equal pay for equal work. Support the Paycheck Fairness Act now.
In Wisconsin, a woman only earns $0.80 for every dollar a man earns. Women and men alike are supporting families and deserve to be compensated fairly for their work and expertise.
Equal pay for equal work just makes economic sense. Pay discrimination hurts Wisconsin’s families. When families have more money to spend, it fuels our local economies.
That’s why reinstating Wisconsin’s 2009 Equal Pay Enforcement Act is a part of my jobs plan, Invest for Success. Join me and stand up for Wisconsin’s families and help move our state forward.
Sign the Petition: It's time for equal pay for equal work.
Thanks for taking action on this issue that is so critical to our state.
