Because this loss will never get old. And maps are fun.
Brat's base of support in Hanover County, a solid block of purple, really stands out. Cantor's strongest counties, in the North of the district, are not heavily populated. Cantor also did very well in some precincts in Richmond.
Below the fold, compare to maps of Obama's performance in the district and turnout.
Looking at the map of the 2012 election, there's no district-wide relationship between Obama and Cantor vote shares. Indeed, in Obama's worst precincts and
his best precincts, Brat racked up some of his biggest margins.
Turnout is normalized to the number of votes for Romney in the 2012 general election, a heated campaign with heavy turnout. The north of the district, Cantor's territory, had the worst turnout, with many precincts below 20 percent.
Overall, it's just not a pretty picture for Cantor. But the rest of us can enjoy it.
