Jeremy Doss Hardy, suspected of deadly shooting spree in Oklahoma
Jeremy Doss Hardy, a 36-year-old man from Pasadena, Texas, has been arrested after a deadly spree west of Oklahoma City in which he randomly shot at people on Interstate 40:
The OSBI says just after midnight, the suspect was driving west on I-40 and ran a man and woman off the highway. The man was then shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later, near Weatherford, authorities say a woman was shot inside her car. She was taken to a Weatherford hospital where she was pronounced dead.
He also fired at several other drivers:
The driver is identified Jeremy Doss Hardy,36, of Pasadena, Texas. Hardy was booked into the Custer County Law Enforcement Center for DUI, but could face several more charges including First-Degree murder.
“And we believe he shot at least four other vehicles during his rampage,” said Jessica Brown, the spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations
He’s had a previous weapons charge:
A background check on Hardy reveals he was arrested in August 2001 for unlawfully carrying a weapon in Liberty County Texas. He was also indicted for reckless injury to a child and assaulting a family member in Harris County Texas back in 2005, but one of the charges was dismissed and the other was disposed.
It’s too bad he didn’t get a heavy sentence in the 2005 case:
Jeremy Hardy was charged in Harris County, Texas, in 2005 with a felony charge of reckless injury to a child. He was fined $500 and put on community supervision for three years after pleading guilty. He is not a convicted felon because his sentence was deferred.
He was accused of hurting his wife’s 2-year-old son during a physical altercation with her at their apartment.
Police are investigating the motive.
