The third and final Democratic presidential debate of 2015 is now well underway, with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley doing their best to present their ideas and sell their candidacies to however many people are watching on the Saturday night before Christmas.

Sanders, on Trump’s call to ban entry of Muslims, first notes income inequality and then says along comes someone like Trump who demonizes “all of the Mexicans,” “all the Muslims are terrorists,” and that “meanwhile the rich get richer.” Wants us to stand together to have an America that works for all of us.

Clinton: There's got to be a way to balance liberty and security and privacy but we need police tools to prevent attacks. O'Malley: Need to figure this out following our American principles. Question is should Syrian refugees be banned from coming into the country. Clinton says no, we have strict vetting which must continue, we must continue to go after ISIS, but that we should “not become a nation of fear.”

Why no combat troops for Syria asked of Sanders. He says U.S. cannot be the policeman of the world. We need a coalition that includes Russia. No American troops. Should be Muslim troops. But what if it doesn’t work? Sanders says his goal is to “make it work.”

Clinton supports “no-fly zone” in Syria. Sanders says that we can get rid of dictators but we need to do better thinking on what comes next. Clinton comes back noting that Sanders voted to intervene in Libya. She says Libyans are now trying to dislodge ISIS from Libya.
