I just read Sabato’s round-up of round-up of 21 VP picks. Really, the only one I like is Al Franken (sure, Warren is exciting, but I don’t think she will do it — plus that’s another Sen. seat at risk).
Well, Larry Sabato’s a Republican. Surely we can do better! (Sorry, he’s pretty nonpartisan in his coverage. That wasn’t very fair of me *wink*)
Take a look at this list of gov.s … see anyone you like? How about Gina Raimondo of RI ? Or David Ige of HI? (Hmm, the last time we nominated someone from Hawaii, it didn’t turn out so bad, right? :-)
Or what about some of our Sen.s? (My browser doesn’t like that page. Try clicking on the 'party' header in this list instead). For party unity, think Jeff Merkley — the only Sen. to endorse Bernie. What’s wrong with either of the WA sen.s (Patty Murray or Maria Cantwell)? Want someone w/ crossover appeal? Think John Tester (yes, MT has a D gov ... go, red state Ds!!)
Geez, there are so many good choices, even if we add the constraint of not losing a Sen. seat.
What are your thoughts for thinking on the edge of the box? Or even outside it?
