Bernie is a good person, according to Harry Reid and Joe Biden...
The quote, "...lay off Bernie Sanders a little bit, OK?", may sound “uninformed’ to many of Hillary’s ardent fans here at Dailykos, but you have to admit that there is a certain amount of political logic to it.
I mean, after all, if Hillary Clinton does indeed have all the delegate support she needs to win the nomination, if it really is completely futile for the Sanders campaign to continue on, then how can it make any sense for a Hillary supporter to say or do anything that might inspire any of Bernie’s supporters to feel a burning resentment toward the Clinton faction within the party?
If it’s in the bag, then what are you worried about?
If it’s in the bag, then isn’t now the time to try to make peace with the people you absolutely need if you want to see Hillary become POTUS?
Trying to convince Bernie’s faithful followers that they’ve been stupid and foolish is probably not the most effective way to encourage them to vote for Hillary this November.
I mean, logically, shouldn’t you just bite your tongue real hard the next time you feel you want to excoriate a Sanders supporter for criticizing Hillary?
Wouldn’t it make more sense at this time to just ignore their comments, even if you find them insulting? What harm can they actually do to her chances of winning the nomination?
Or do you perhaps feel that once she becomes the nominee, the best thing you can do to help her win against Trump is to insult Bernie’s ardent supporters into voting for her?
Maybe you’ve never been terribly sophisticated in your politics up to this point, but now may be the time for you to consider the wisdom of looking beyond the moment and simply remaining silent when the other side wants to argue, cuz you know how it’s all going to end up anyway, and you’re going to want to remain on friendly terms with this person in the future.
Ya think?
